ok, i am wondering if this metal gasket can be replaced with like a cork one or something else or if anyone knows that if i cut the ridge off to port match, can i seal it with like silicon instead?
see, the intake runner was wider than the ports on the head so i took alittle off the side of the head. i didnt take alot, but i might have taken alittle more than the gasket is wide. so i am wondering can the gasket be modified to match or will i have troubles with it?
    anyone? anyone? bueler? =)

A picture is worth a thousand words!!
I wouldn't go modifiying the gasket, it'll only bite you in the butt.

I know that when I replaced the intake gaskets, mine were not metal but a composite of sorts. I have seen the metal ones before but don't have much experience with intake and head gaskets. You are trying to put high port 231 heads on your block correct?

the head gaskets are fine, what i am talking about are the intake gaskets. the ones i am getting (supposed to be correct) are metal. TA Performance said they made composite ones that could be shaved, but the metal ones cant because of the sealing ridge (i called em a while after i posted). i bought metal ones before i asked and they are on their way. will have to do some measuring when they get here.
    thanx for the input guys..
