They are one piece, not the dog dish with trim ring separate and they only have the red on them, although I guess the gold and white colors could have come off, but why would only the red remain?

I've seen "differential" paint fading and wear before. It's just different paint formulations
having different properties; metallic versus non-metallic.

I guess the spaces between the turbine blades (black) needs touching up too?

They're cool though and sort of period-correct for these old Jeeps.

It’s a common thing that the gold was always the first colour to wear off, must be a paint quality difference between colours.

You could even get them with the hole knockout if you ran free wheeling hubs.
Here’s an ad back in the day for the turbines.

This forum and these Jeeps are altering my predilection.

I am starting to appreciate old fashioned hubcaps more and more. They're just so stylish.

Yes, the front pair are “holed” for the Warn hubs that are present. I’ve never really cared for hubcaps before, but these have kind of changed my mind about them. The jeep was nearby, the tub and fenders in rotten shape, most everything else in terrible, rusty, condition, no title, etc, etc, but for a couple hundred dollars I bought it anyway just to have something to wrench on on and learn about. My ‘63 just got new fluids and lubes and will be driven “as is”. This ‘58 with the hubcaps will give me something to “practice” on and may be a source for some spare parts, there is also a little heater on the passenger side. Might just end up as “lawn art”, ha. Thanks for the info as usual!

These turbine hubcaps came out around 1964 and were featured on the MKlV Tuxedo Parks. The 16" size is a bit less common, and was used typically on the pickups w hen full hubcaps were specified. The CJs usually had 15" hubcaps. I can remember a dealer display of these hubcaps when my dad bought the Tux back in '65, the same ones that came on the Tux.
If you come across any 15" versions of these, I'd be interested in individuals or a set.
