alright, it started sometime last week and i figured i just needed to tune in my carb, but unfortunately it has seemingly turned into a disaster today. for some reason the jeep started to stumble when taken a little bit off idle. initially it would idle just great, and once it passed the stumbling it'd go great. fast forward to this morning where it will crank up fine on a choke, but then start stumbling and fall on its face when at idle without the choke (it was warm when this was going on). if i nail the throttle it will catch back up with itself for a little bit, but then begin to stumble again. i did notice a bit of fog/vapor coming out of the intake that i haven't noticed before. maybe it's just coincidence because i've never really looked at it before?? if it sits for a bit (about a minute or so) it'll be ready to do the same thing all over again... kinda funny if you don't actually want to drive it.

what you guys think?? look further into the carb, or an electrical device (condensor?) ? i did notice that the fuel pump in the carb is toast, but that shouldn't really matter at idle should it? couldn't be the fuel filter could it? gas is still in the bowl after it stalls... and it's not flooding out. the settings have been set back to the 1 1/2 to 2 turns for initial tuning on the 2g with the same results.

sorry for all the typing, just letting you guys know where it stands before i answer questions i should have put here to begin with.

First question. :hurrican: or :v6: .

Basics are the same. Start at your source of fuel. Gas flowing freely to the fuel pump? If so, does the fuel pump put out pressure? If it does, do you have an inline filter? If so, replace it--their cheap. If you have an "in carb" filter behind the fuel inlet remove it and instal an in line. These little filters are notorious for pluging up.

Once you are sure you have fuel to the carb and it still does it, it's probably dirt is the carb pluging up the jets. Not that uncommon. You said you needed a accel pump anayway, so I'd say it's time for a carb rebuild.

    Let us know what happens.

sounds like time to rebuild. When you change the accel pump, you might as well replace the float, and any bad gaskets as well.

carb was rebuilt year ago. the only reason the accel pump is out is because i had issues with the float sticking and had to take it out alot before i finally left out a peice that was "needed". after that no more problems until today. the float isn't sticking because it isn't floading and there is gas in the bowl after it stalls. the in line filter shouldn't be clogged if there's fuel getting/in the bowl when it finally stalls right. i'll check thejets tomorrow, but thegas looked nice and clean when i played around with everything today... but looking isn't being. really sounds like the idler jets are cogged somehow for it to be able to jump right into full throttle but not like being just off idle. where would these jets be? just part of the jets in the bottom of the bowl or are the a completely different ciruit?

Try removing the idle mixture screws and blowing thru the passages with compressed air.........
