    Hi,
I have a 57 CJ5 frame that I need to route the (missing) brake lines. I have a line kit, rubber hoses and "T" fittings from Walcks, but just not sure how to route them. The individual lines were NOT marked in the line kit. This CJ5 did not have the "S" connectors. Does anyone have any pics of the correct placement of the steel lines? I have searched quite a bit, but have come up empty:?
    Thanks!

Hey PeteL.. That jeepdoc link shows the rear brake line going over the top of the frame? Don't see how you can keep from breaking the lines when run that way.

Admittedly it is unclear at that scale.

The main line to the rear runs inside the frame c-channel, turns and continues inside the front face of the rear crossmember. Above the differential it passes through the crossmember, to the rear, and converts to rubber flex line that connects to a 'T' on the rear axle.

    There were two layouts used-

Early on (carried over from the M38A1's) in the front there was a single flex hose from the frame down to a tee on the driver's side of the axle & lines running from that to flex hoses at the knuckles which connected to the "S" lines that went to the wheel cylinders. (repeat quickly three times)

After a few years they moved to a system where the hardlines rmained on the frame, with one crossing over under the front crossmember to the passenger side. Flex hoses connected from these down to each side of the axle. I'm not sure if the "S" lines were used with this or not.

The change seems to have occurred at s/n 83072 for 5's / 15006 for 6's. I can confirm that Tonk (a '55) has the axle setup while Maggie (a '59) had the frame lines.

The drawing above is the axle setup-

    here's the frame layout-

Theses also some differences about how lines were connected to the mastercylinder- used used a double port banjo fitting to feed front & back while the other system used a tee.
