short of a spark dance around the patio pit. Can anyone tell me how to diagnois(sp) my no spark. It's a fresh reman unit. Been running great and I was just starting to get use to a 7 tooth run on flywheel startup. Last nite turned it off, this morning she won't restart, no spark. Power to the unit, nothing comes out. How do you check one of these units. Easy enough to pull the modeual(sp), condensor, and coil but how do I tell which one is dead. I went by our version of Pull and Save (found a '70 sumpin skylark with a 231 oddfire)and got a set. Still zip. Could be one of them three's junk too. Anyway, you get the point. No pun

willysworker: If yours is a true HEI, you don't have a condensor. It's prolly your "ignition module". They are cheap at the local FLAPS. Just get one for a '75 or '76 Buick Regal or Applo.

A coil IS a possibllity, but they usually only go when it's hot. So invest in another "module" first.

    Sounds like Marcs Jeep!

Either fly me out for a "layin of hands" or check the center electrode to the cap and make sure its clean........

Same damn thing is happening to mine. I have yet to drive over and get a module and coil. I've been keeping a rubber mallet in the Jeep and when she won't start up I open the hood and lightly tap the top of the HEI and vroom vroom vroom.
Next time I see Billy I'll make sure to bring my knife and liberate one of his fingers. You just have to wave that sucker over your Jeep and everything will work fine.
I did clean up the center electrode and haven't had a bad start in a couple of days. I will pick up that module this weekend.

Thanks. James P. which one in the picture is you? This is my first experience with HEI distribs. other than the simple conversion. Yea, it's an HEI and yes the little silver barrel thing isn't a condenser. Whatever it is Schucks, my local cheap parts store, doesn't have a replacement. It was the ignition module anyway. Found out Schucks will check them on a machine. Mine failed, it was OK only after the 3rd test and it warmed up. The Pull n Save junkyard unit did basicly the same thing. Bought a new one and I'm back to a light switch start up.
