    Hello

I have heard that cj5 have heavy duty springs option. Is jeep higher with hd springs than normal springs?

I need to know this because in Finland car building is very hard. I need to register my lift kit and i need highest jeep to compare it with my -69 cj-5.

And sorry about my english. It is little bit rusty.

Not really, the arch or bend is the same but there are more spring leaves to increase capacity.

    Sounds fine to me :)

In my experience, yes the Jeeps with the heavy duty suspension option sit a little higher than those with the standard springs.

I assume your interest here is to get additional clearance under your jeep without having to jump through regulatory hoops relating to government regulations concerning modifying a vehicle from stock condition.

In my opinion going to factory optional heavy duty springs would not get you a worthwhile gain in height and would cause the ride quality of your jeep to become harsh and uncomfortable. They would also deteriorate it's off road capabilities as suspension flex would be reduced.

What is it you're using your jeep for- rock crawling/trail riding/mud/???

How much lift would you ideally like to have?

I bought my project jeep month ago. Previous owner put six inches lift kit in my jeep. It is too high, i have to lower it. I will not put hd springs in my jeep. Too tough....

In Finland 150mm is max what you can raise your vehicle (tires and lift kit). I probably put 30-31 inches high tyres in my jeep. So there is not much left for lift kit. Or what is the biggest original tyre size for jeep?

I will use jeep for "summer car" and sometimes for trail... Max 2000km per year. I have two other cars...

Factory stock tire diameters were in the range of 29 to 30 inches so a 31" diameter tire is only adding 12mm or so height. 31" tires will fit perfectly well without need of any lift.

Popular lift kits are 2 to 4 inches, 6"/150mm is generally considered to be more than is desirable except for more capable off road only usage, this is because of the narrow stock axle widths, narrow axle spacing and high center of gravity affecting handling.

For your usage I'd recommend either stock dimension springs and hangers or 2" lift springs. The right set of lift springs will have the added benefit of improving the ride quality.

Thanks for the tips. Let see how high car is when i put it together. I will swap technic and put rollcage. But first must remove all rust. Lot of work in the future....

I put a 2” lift I’m my jeep and it is hardly noticeable. If I put my stock jeep next to it, then you can see the difference.
