    hi my name is ed i have a question i have a 225 v6 that i pulled out of 66 cj5, want to rebuild, i pulled the heads and they are not the same, one has gm 2 cast numberb1376 48 on it which i think from what i have read on this board its the 225, the other has buick 1249175 on it and has a flat spot in one corner and the valve cover has165432 on it so i assume it is a231 odd fire head it has two holes missing but only one is used i guess so it can be used on ether side my question is can i use this head would like your opinion thanks ed

    Head 1249175 is Buick 3.8 (231) from 1975-1977. Head 1376236 is Buick and Kaiser Jeep 3.7 (225) from 1964-1967.
    Compare valve diameters to see if they are the same, and use a head gasket to check that the water passages are the same.

    the water passages are the same the only difference is the little holes at the top dont know what they are for on the block the hole when air is blown threw it goes to one of the lifters thanks

    On the older heads one is a blocked oil passage for the rocker arms I think. The other one will go to oil galley. Don't know about the 231.

    the 231 does not have that little hole so can i use this head or not thanks

    no hole in the head means no oil to the rockers so id guess not.
