Sounds like Rust Cap to me... That's exactly what the directions were when I bought mine. (Rattle cans)

Heres what I found out so far : Masco Corp bought Masterchem in 2000. which is now owned by Behr Process Corp.

    714/545.7101
    www.behrpaint.com
Estimated 2003 North American Coatings Sales: 1.093 billion
    CEO/President: Jeff Filley
Behr, in business since 1947, manufactures architectural coatings, including specialty paint products, stains, varnishes and waterproofings. In 1999, Behr was acquired by Masco Corp., which sells Masterchem specialty paint products and Kilz brand primers. The products are sold primarily through major home center chains in North America. Sales of paint products are 10% of Masco sales of $10.936 billion, or 1.093 billion for 2003.
    Parent Company: Masco Corp.
Source: Masco 10K and annual report, websites and press releases
    Number of Stores: 0
    Manufacturing Plants: 5

Now weather Behr was bought out by Rust-Oleum...

I have searched here and can't find it. Looked at True Value, Ace, Home Depot, a regional farm supply. All of them carry Rustoleum Hammered finish. I went to "The Paint Bucket", a paint supplier, and they can special order all of the Hammerite colors and finishes. $15/quart with no shipping costs. Didn't ask about the rattle cans, as I decided one of the Preval applicators would work pretty well.

Okay. I checked the can. What I used wasn't rustoleum at all. It was Hammerite Rust Cap Smooth Finish. About $5 a can at the BORG aka Home Depot. Manufactured by Masterchem. 12 oz Rattle Can.

Our Home Depot doesn't have squat. I was looking for the Plasti Dip Jim mentioned buying at Home Depot Monday nite, couldn't find anything remotely like it.

Color coded some tools to keep the fighting in the shop down - someone ALWAYS had someone elses tools - Kids

Ya know, for some reason, I seem to recall that the Home Depot keeps the plasti-dip in the Tool Crib and not the paint section. Not sure though. But it seems like that was the case. Anyway the hammerite was definitely in the paint section amongst the other rattle cans.

OK here is some info. You can only buy it from distributors so that means no discount from the wifey. Here is the customer service number where they can tell who is a distributor in your area: 866-774-6371. That is the number to Masterchem so just ask for a Hammerite distributor. I found a place here in Michigan by me and they told my wife that it is the only distributor in Michigan. I can check to see if they would ship pif anyone is intereseted. I have Friday off, so i might run over on Friday.
