    I just did this to mine and it works . I am ordering new brushes . I had 11.8 volts and now i get 13.5 above idle !

    One thing they didn't do, which can lead to problems later is to under cut the mica insulation located in the grooves between the copper strips on the commutator. They make a tool for this, but a pointed tip tool also works well. This is to clean out the dirt and carbon in-between the copper strips and keep them from making high resistance contact..
