I'll just make one tomorrow. It would be three times faster and 7 times cheaper

So, hole placement measurements on my 1967 CJ5, to the best of my ability with the seat in the way.

The front hole center is 13-1/16" to the right from the inside of rocker panel and it is 1-1/8" forward from the edge of the tank. The edge referred to is the thin edge of the doubled metal of the tank flange/weld. My tank is back as far as possible against the "step-down", there may be an 1/8 of a inch gap.

Addition/Edit: Should mention the present gas tank is an "incorrect" metal replacement tank for the 225 V6--so is apparently smaller and not coming forward to the strap at the floor mounting bolt. Maybe the tank is not supposed to be push back so far--I don't know, but I assume the mounting holes (which the measurements speak for) are correct.

Now, for the back hole--it's centered 12-7/8" right from the inside body metal, and the tape measure was bumped against the double-thickness created by the wheel housing flange which is connected/welded to the body. The hole is 3/4" back from the step-down edge.

There is a thin strip of rubber sandwich between the tank and the top of the tank and extending over the edges--may not be necessary or an original thing--I don't know, I did it because it suited me.

Well this is interesting. I just got done sand blasting smoothing up and painting my gas tank straps (CJ-2A) and after reading this thread I see I have a 2A type thin strap the one that runs tunnel to tub wall with webbing on the underside. I also have a solid CJ-5 type strap that would run front to back. WHAT I DON"T SEAM TO HAVE is the little Clamp piece that goes from the tab with two ears on it on the back of my tank down to the rear floor just above the Riser. Guess I have something else to make before I can install my NOS OEM CJ-2A tank. Thanks guys I would have been annoyed had I got to that point and couldn't find it.

You should be able to get that one to work.. Fasten the strap the way it is in post #13. Bend it over the tank, make the bend a little short, so when it is tightened, it pulls the tank down. Bend it at the rear of the tank, weld that tab on and bolt it in place. It should look like something in post # 21

I just made one out of banding material. It isn't pretty but it will do the trick. And thank you everybody for the input.
