I got it calibrated. I used this variable resistor. I didn't have to adjust it much, so the gauge and sending unit must have not been too far off.

Glad you got it working. That trimmer goes to 10 thousand ohms which is a lot in comparison to the sender resistance of 100 or so. There will probably be other guys wanting or needing to do this same thing. Good show.

That was only 9 years ago? Should just be able to google variable resistor and find what you want or go to local electronics store and ask.

I see a lot of problems wit fuel gauges on various forums. As I intend on some very long and remote trips in my CJ-2A I wanted to make sure my fuel gauge was accurate. SO I bought a NEW Stewart Warner #82-303 240-33.5ohm Gauge and then went with the intellisensor Fuel Level Sensor #02705-06 it is a electronic level sensor with no moving parts no swing arm no float I bought the one made for a 6" deep tank (they come in 1" increments) and I Only had the hassle of finding the proper screws to fit my New tank. Sure I spent a little extra but it is planned that others after me will be driving this Jeep and I don't want a Grand Daughter to have to guess at how much fuel she has left. Or need to use a stick.

Hey it's not gone, like dead and gone. It's got a good home now and is just in a rehabilitation phase. It's gonna be out and about again at some point. With fresh parts and pieces.
