Full flow oil filter modification

    Somewhere, I remember someone converting the original bypass oil filter into a full flow oil filter. They drilled and tapped the hole in the block the goes from the oil pump to the oil galley and put a 1/4 pipe plug in and then drilled the side of the passage for the oil line up to the filter. Then the return line from the filter was run to the oil galley. Only thing I can't remember is what was done with the original return line port on the timing gear cover.

    Seeing how I have to bring my block back to the machine shop again, I'd like to do this modification.

    Doable, perhaps an improvement but I've actually pulled the oil pan & pumped oil through to see where it comes out- in my estimation, at least in a fresh engine, 90% of the oil flows through to oil filter anyhow.

    Yep, that't the exact one I was thinking of. Looks a bit more involved than I thought. I think I'll leave it stock then.
