    YJ tank maybe?

Isn't there a 20 gallon version of those?

yes.. there is a 20 gal CJ as well.. I just wasn't sure if anybody has already done this in a 72-75 CJ so I didn't have to reinvent the wheel

The factory tank fits the area between the frame rails tightly. I doubt you can add more capacity without either a body lift, or letting the skid hang lower and reducing your rear breakover angle. The 20 gallon tanks all require the skid plate be extended downward, I believe.

Use underseat tanks up front for more capacity.

I would be fairly weary of a 20gal tank under the rear. Take a look at what they look like mounted-the tank hangs way to low under the rear of the Jeep IMHO. If it is a road Jeep though Im sure it would be fine though. Aside from that, under the seat or a custom tank mounted in the location of your choice such as under the rear seat.

I've got a 22 gal tank in my '79 CJ5 with a 360. The extra capacity is nice, and it doesn't hang too low, at least for me. The 22 gal has a skid plate welded to it actually and not a bolt on one.
