Finishing up my 1955 CJ5 rebuild. Front differential has broken spider gear teeth. My front axle is stamped 27 so assume it’s Dana 27 not 25 front axle. Are the spider gears interchangeable on 25 and 27? How difficult is it to replace?

Are the Dana 25 and 27 components interchangeable? I’m finding Dana 25 parts but not Dana 27

That was one of the first projects I had to do when I got my CJ. I think I ordered from Kaiser Willys. They were listed as 25/27 gears. I have a 27 axle (from what I can tell) and they work fine. The hardest part for me was getting the nerve to tear into the axle. Once I got started though, it was pretty much self-explanatory.

Yes, spider gear sets are the same for 25/27.
