    :D

Back on track...Test fitted and good to go!

I went back to the wrecking yard and they swapped me for these. '81 Chevy 1/2 ton 4X4 caliper brackets...The ones I wanted the first time! I know they're hammered but I don't care at this point!

I made relief cuts in the thinner material and wiggled them back and forth until they crumbled off.

I mounted everything up and I'm good to go without changing anything except I'll have to grind the knuckle and a little of the brake pad. Threw some high temp paint on them...While they dry I'll open my new to me MC that the mail "person" just dropped off!

yeah 3/4 ton won't work with 15" rims that is why they used 16.5 and 16" rims. a friend of mine tried to make 15" rims work with his dana 60. had to grind a BUNCH of material off half the calipers to make it work with the offset he had on the rims.

I don't know about you but I find this sexy! I've never had discs on any of my old "hobby" cars...I'm pretty excited about this.

Focker if you need them there were a pair of I believe 235/85r16 wheels and tires at the swap meet today at the Benton county fairgrounds the guy wanted $70 for the two of them. common aftermarket steel wheels with triangles around the circumference they looked like the right bolt pattern tires looked pretty new probably about 80% tread.

I almost bought them myself for my m100 trailer but I was thinkin they might have been too big to fit under my fenders, but to me they really did look like a good deal

so are would the 81 caliper brackets fit on a 66 CJ5? Having issues getting the parts to convert drums to disc. I have no idea what parts i can rob from. Any help would be great, Its a stock 66 with mud tires on it. But the brakes have got to go, almost ran into the garage parking it.

The '81 CJ caliper brackets and calipers will not bolt to a closed knuckle front axle. The most common (and cheapest for many folks) way is the link Focker posted below. There are a couple companies that offer kits. R&P does a 1/4 ton disc brake kit for the front that is a bolt on. There is a thread on here that someone documented installing this kit and the results. Probably in the builds section.
