I went to open the hood the other day and one hinge is stuck. Any secrets to repair save the hinge? I had to remove the hinge to open the hood. I have sprayed it with penetrated oil but to no avail. This is the older style with two same shaped half's on the pin side, not the gate hinge style.

Soak the sh*t out of it with pb blaster. Tap it a few times with a hammer. What does it look like? Might be too far gone

Can you take it off? if you can soak the :poo: out of it, and put it in a vise and make it move, it will probably loosen up.

Take off, drill a small hole midway in the pin cavity. Soak in hot water, place in pie pan or anything submerge it in water, place in freezer 24 hr, take out of pan, lay outside in sun on something black all day, while still warm spray with PB. Next day in vise, heat with torch , more PB, hammer time !
The water gets inside and freezes, expanding the metal, the sun dries it and heat expands the metal, PB gets in, melts rust, hammer blow frees it. Sounds crazy, but works.

The stainless steel bolts came out OK. I have put it in a vise and tried to move it with a pipe wrench sill no go. It almost appears the the pin is backed out a bit more then the other hinge. I have not tried heat yet. Seems I have so little time to mess with it while I am in middle of a move 260 miles to the coast where everything can rust up nicely. I suppose that the latches will hold it ok for it's tow. I hope to find something just the right size for a deep soaking.

What this sounds like a plan once the move is over thanks.

You might throw a ratchet strap on the hood for the towing.
