I have had some good fortune come my way. I have a friend I have been helping with getting his restored M715 running. He has a 65 Tux I was going to buy last summer but didn't because I was unemployed. That took some discipline...LOL Anyway he has offered to give me the Tux for helping him. It is complete except for hub caps and bumpers. He has new fuel pumps, distributers, carbs in the boxes to go with it. The motor was rebuilt 10K ago and purrs like a cougar. This will be a very easy resto except for the 900 dollar hubcaps on Ebay OUCH! I even found the wheel house pads for it.

    Two questions.
    1. It has a koenig winch. All I can find under options is PTO winch. Was koenig the correct winch for this thing? And the front bumper. Where can I find a picture of the correct front winch bumper? I did search but didn't really get my answer. I assume the front chrome bumper is not used with the winch, or was it?

    2. Are the chrome bumpers the same as the early Jeepster? I want to find them for the rig and wondered if Jeepster bumpers will be the same.

Thanks... I'll have it here soon. This is number 5. I need counseling I think....

With my 66 Tux the front and back bumpers are the same. Have been looking for two for mine also due rust. Plating very pricy. I have winch (home-made) on mine, (Avatar not too clear) and I had to space bumper out about 1 inch. BTW nice neighbor..

Welcome to the club. Like I always say, if it's free it's for me!:) Congrats. Good luck with the hubcaps. I've been after a set for years. Not willing to pay the price. Thanks to all for the info on the bumpers. That'll be a big help. Hard to say what the deal might be with your front bumper considering the winch. I've never seen a tux, in person or pictures, with a winch on it and in stock form. Good luck.

Cool. I was wondering about the jeepster bumpers. I thought they might have an extra hole or two. I finally have some time to sit down. I'll upload some pics. The front clip has been restored and primered and stored. It runs great. Has a new bestop, and all the extra's I already brought home. Even has the what appears to be an original sissors jack.

Well here it is. Need to find bumpers, side steps, hubcaps, and tailights. I wish it were a different color.

    Front view.

Inside. I did find wheel house cushions for it. The seats were a dark blue.

    PTO shifter

Koenig winch. Thats the bumper I was wondering about. Factory?

    VIN tag.

    Small parts

Only serious body damage. Some care metal replacement and away it goes.
This is the forward lower edge of the tool box.

Correct jack?? Looks like it was made for the U-bolt plate to fit right in the groove.

Locking hub turning tool. Might be home made.

Should be a fast restoration (get in line)....

I don't think they are the same. I am not sure. There are two types that are very similar. I have been eye balling a set that keeps getting re listed on Ebay. But for 189.00 a corner I'm going to have to pass for now.

The original owner probably kept the original tux front bumper after the winch installation option, I have the exact same winch on my rig and the fairlead is welded into a standard bumper just like yours. Every Koenig winch installation I have seen has the same front bumper, Its correct for the winch option far as I can tell.

Looks like a standard model 151J Koeing winch package to me. Consist of a Model 100 winch, Model 51 PTO with shaft, and bumper. It was sold as a package. If you look on the top of the bumper on the left side of the fairlead under the paint, you should find some stamping.
    Great find by the way.

All I've got to say is there is no such thing as a free jeep. I got mine "free" in pieces. Good luck with it though. Hours and hours of bittersweet time and money consumption!
