I was under my Jeep a lot this past weekend and I noticed a crack just on the "boxing" part on the passenger side under the engine area. Is this a major problem that needs to be welded up ASAP??? Like I said, it's just on the inside of the frame rail, not the actual frame rail.

    Thanks in advance

definitely wouldnt hurt to weld it. It will also prevent the crack from continuing through the frame rail...

do you have a pic? Would probably only take you a few minutes to grind it and weld it

I have a small amount of rot on the boxed in part by my passenger side motor mount. I was planning on fixing that soon. I know not any help here, just wanted to add on

If you were in the DFW area I would offer my welder and tools. You probably want to reinforce that area to keep it from happening again.

I agree. Weld the crack and then put a plate over it and weld it too.

Also I am in the DFW area and I would gladly do the welding.

What is up with us DFW Jeep people, do we all own welders?

I got a big chunk of frame rotted out on black jeep. been that way since I bought it. It is one of them "will get to it one day" things that will probably bite me when I have no time to fix. I would think it would hold for a long time.

I know someone here with a welder and a grinder. I had each here as well, but they were my Dad's and the garage isn't wired for it either. I will do some talking and get it taken care of at some point. I didn't know if it was a big deal since it was only on the inside part where it is boxed. I need to get a pic I guess.

Thanks for the offers, but I'm a long ways from DFW

If you can get a drill into the area of the crack, drill a hole at both ends of the crack to stop it from speading temporarily until you can get it welded.
