Opportunity to buy a 48 cj-2a, No pics, but good condition, straight sheet metal, of course with surface rust, but an easy body to work with. This jeep is already driveable. Let me summarize:

    48 2A
Straight good body complete, covered in surface rust only.
    Original front seat frames
    good frame
original engine and drivetrain, all useable
    original air cleaner
    original wheels
    different radiator

    EXTRA PARTS
    1947 frame
    47 axles and springs
47 engine, disassembled sitting outside, covered, maybe useable.
47 tranny and case, unknown condition, sitting outside complete, but uncovered.

He wants $1000 for all, non negotiable. How much could I recoup from the 47 parts. Can't get any pics, but what does anyone think.

If the above is all true . . .
    Sounds like a great deal!

I sold my drivable, original, slightly rusty 2A for $2100 and thought the guy got a good deal!

I've seen it. The description is based on my observations. Hmmm. Do I need another project.

i paid 1000$ for mine 3 years ago... it took a lot of time and work for me to get it into running condition... brakes, clutch, gas tank, suspension, tires, etc.
if that one is already road/trail worthy at that price, i would jump on it.
Surface rust is no big deal... sandpaper, tremclad and rustoleum are you friends!
    get pics!

if you scrapped the extra parts you'd get $200 probably, could probably sell them off as well, sounds like a fine price to me.

    I paid 2k for my running '60 cj5.

If I had an extra grand I'ld buy it/them. My wife thinks I need another project. Offered to get me a 67 Camaro yesterday. Rather have a JEEP, myself.:)
