I have been able to find that the chevy spindles are a 6 on 4" symmetrical bolt batter to the knuckles. I can not seem to find the same measurement on the 5 bolt ford spindles.

Does anyone here happen to know what bolt pattern is on a 5 lug ford spindle?

Not sure what your working on. As far as I know all for Dana 44 Ford spindles are the same with the 5 bolt pattern and small inner wheel bearing. Chevy, Jeep and Dodge all used the 6 bolt mounting pattern for the spindle mount. Dodge spindles are kind of off breed, with a 6 bolt spindle mount. Chevy and Jeep are interchangeable, with the 1976 1/2 and older taking the smaller inner wheel bearing that matches the Ford wheel bearing, and the 1976 1/2 and newer taking a larger inner bearing and a 6 bolt spindle mount.

If your trying to run the Ford hub and rotor on a Jeep or Chevy Dana 44 you will need the 1976 1/2 and earlier spindle.

I thought almost all D44 front spindles were the same 6-bolt pattern (to the knuckle) with the exception of Scout ll which has an 8-bolt spindle. I have a Chevy spindle down in the shop that I know interchanges with Jeep, and I think is the same as Ford. The only difference might be the bearing race diameter may differ.

The Ford ones that have 5 bolts usually get recycled.

Ford knukkle before 1975 have a 6 bolt spindle (drum brake), same bolt patern as jeep, gm dana 30/44.

Ford Knukkle 1976 and more has the 5 bolt spindle with the big hole inside knukkle. They are desirable if you plan someday to go with rcv axle. The cv joint of the rcv will pass trought the 5 bolt knukkle but no the 6 bolt.

In chevy dana 44 you will have two style of spindle depending on year.

Normally the 1972-1976 dana 44 from K1500 chevy and the dana 44 from waggy will have what is call the small bearing spindle. Using this spindle will allow to mix and match different hub. So you can put a ford hub (1976-19??) with the 5x5.5 bolt patern over the Oem 6x5.5 that chevy and waggy use. They all use the same bearing so that's why you can interchange the hub.

Using the small bearing spindle and for hub/rotor/outer axle and the chevy backing plate and caliper on a dana 44 will elimininate the weak external lock for the internal lock that don't rely on bolt but spline.

All the waggy and chevy 1977 and newer will use what is call a " big bearing spindle " and you wont be able to swap the hub from the ford.

I was looking more for the bolt pattern dimensions on a 5 bolt Ford spindle.

My plan is to have axle ends machines to accept front spindles as a free float kit.
