I changed just about everything on mine. Maybe I can lead you onto something. I finished my project last year and I've spent alot of time researching. What are you looking to do with your flattie. Are you going to do the work yourself. Are you going for broke or on a buget.

I was just wanting to see pictures of other rigs under construction.

Yes I am building my rig myself. The plan is 1948 cj2a: L-134 t90 d 18 stock rear with lock rite, 1979 d30 front, 538 gears 31x10.50s on the front with 31 12.5 tsl or bogger rears, Manual steering of some type, roll bar, rear seat, painted case IH fleambeu red.

I look at ebay and other sites, and when I see something I like, I save the pic and take notes about what it is I like about it.

I went through a rebuild on my 3a much the same way the first time around. I really liked the Resto mod idea. I flat towed it to trails(full floater rear axle), once to Moab. It was featured in JP Mag. Nov. '01 while I was there. With the mostly stock running gear it did very well in low range(4.86 O'Brian D18). Anyway, I'd like share with you the experiences I had with a L-134 motor. It didn't have the ability to keep up with the flow of traffic on the hiways. And guys in the Jeep Clubs around me all had powerful rigs and I couldn't keep up with them either. I ended up with a museum piece, which I didn't want. Now after a V6 conversion. I have the power for 40-50 MPH driving(no down shifting required on hills) and I'm not always locked into low range when off road(v6 has much better torque and revs freely)). Think over the L-134 motor choice and how you are going to use your rig. Hopefully not hi-speed driving( but that's another posting.haha).

I going to run the l134 because that is what I have got. I do not have the money to throw at changing engines. If and when I do change motors I am going to use a 2.8L GM that I have. No one carries an adapter to use it though:mad: that means new trans and case rear end, etc etc. so for now 134 is the way underpowered or not.
