Those arnt stock seats. There probrobly just alot thicker on the bottom so you sit up alot higher. I got my seats from a van and i had to take out the ajusters to make them as low as they could be on the frames and its now just low enough not to be annoying

yeah i installed the seats myself.. they are Sahara seats (look real nice in a Willys!) i chopped the stock brackets and custom welded a new bottom onto them that would bolt up to my jeep... they are as low as i could get them while retaining the sliders. I'm 6'3" so adjustability is a MUST. I actually had to cut into the driver side rear fender and rebuild it around the seat fully extended. looks good now though and i have the seats placed perfectly.

Yea mine are right up tight to the fender im 6' 150lbs and it fits me prefectly. The steering wheel is big though and if i was any bigger id have troubles. When i converted to a dj steering column for my saganaw setup i positioned it so id have maximum clearance everywhere. Id love to have a wheel an inch or 2 smaller but i dont want to loose the original look

Try BDS springs for a good ride, and maybe a shackle reverse. The windshield is worth a couple bucks and 3-a windshields are plentiful. If it is a dj frame it will probably be boxed and should be a pretty strong frame due to most of the djs having door cutouts on them. Good luck.

I'm not an expert...here's my experience so far for what it's worth.
I have a 1951 cj3a with original closed knuckle front end. The stock springs were pretty tired and the shackle mounts were scary. Plus, I had a hard time steering and I scraped bottom way too much getting into to Rubicon Springs from Georgetown, CA. So I put a manual Saginaw box on and a 2 1/2 inch lift (SUA) on it and shackles that are about 4 inches long. The total lift that I got out of the new setup (3 to 4 inches) made the drive line angles pretty steep. I fiddled with wedges on the rear drive line and got that straightened out, but the front end continues to be a challenge. With wedges I get a "death wobble" at about 40 mph whenever I hit the slightest bump in the road. Shakes my fillings loose and am afraid I'll break a ball joint and go to the Great Spirit That Moves Through All Jeeps. Without shims I get drive line vibration even with new u-joints. Did an alignment and that helped. Now it only happens when you least expect it (Great!). My next step is a steering stabilizer because I'm wondering if the steering conversion is a factor. If that doesn't work I'm up for trying cv joints. Good luck to you. Anyone else out there have feedback for either of us?

almost forgot... the saginaw box i put on has the ps option but i only have a 4cyl so left it manual for now. the steering column is from a Pontiac and has tilt and a lock. I have stock seats so I need to adjust the steering wheel up pretty high, but if it's too high it will smash my fingers against the windshield. Later, when I change to bucket seats I will be able to tilt the steering wheel down and won't have to worry about moving the whole column. The steering wheel lock is just nice for safety when parking on a slope and the ps option will come in handy if I ever get more engine power. The only drawback to the whole thing is the Pontiac steering wheel. Looks a little funny on a Jeep. Haven't put much thought or energy into that issue yet.

you can get an adapter for that column and put any steering wheel you want on that. try www.grantproducts.com you can get the adapter and a nice wheel... order from Jeg's or Summit, they carry most of their stuff. My Saginaw box is a three bolt manual (i actually outbid Alan Borgeson for it on Ebay... from Borgeson steering components).. really nice shape. Gonna box the frame at the end and bolt it in. for tie rod and drag links im planning on using Heim Joints at all ends for strength and Safety. any tilt column from GM will do... ive been looking at Cadillac and Chevelle columns... gonna keep my three spoke flat black steering wheel though. It's only about 10 or 12 inches but i got strong arms ;)

FYI i just bought the 2.5 inch Superlift Kit with 1.5" lift shackles. Will post pics when i get it installed. its not as high as the spring over but it will be enough with my body lift to clear my 35's. I know some of you guys found the superlifts too stiff, but im 6'3" and 240 pounds so we'll see... LOL
thanks again everyone for the lift advice. -B

HollBrook is nice but waaay out of my budget... i got my springs for 100$ from a guy that wanted to put his GPW back to stock. You are right though... they look like they give a nice comfy ride and wicked articulation

I will probably be selling my Superstiffs also. I guess they might be worth $100. 50lbs in the drivers seat is not going to make them any softer.
