Replace your coil wire. It may be bad and you can't tell by just looking at it. If this does not solve the problem then your next step it to try a new coil. The points will fire even with a bad coil or wire.

Have you checked your coil wire with a meter? Should be in the neighborhood of 10K ohms per foot of cable..

No, the coil wire. The large diameter wire that goes from the center terminal on the distributor cap, to the top center of the ignition coil.

That coil wire should have 20K-30K volts on it..Normally this isn't a place where you would try to measure actual voltage.

everything new and still no fire........... do you have power to the coil while cranking? some require a seperate wire from the starter solenoid to power the coil while cranking. have you verified that the points open and then close compleatly? do you have the coil wire in the correct place? (center of cap) can you get spark out of the high voltage lead from the coil to ground? is there a metal strip on the rotor? (could be a defective rotor if not) not trying to be a smart @$$ but something is just not adding up here.......

one other thing to check, turn the dist cap upside down, some have a carbon tit on the coil lead inside the cap if its gone (fell out, broke off etc) then the gap may be too far for the voltage to jump. if your cap is setup like this it will be the center post and it will just not look right, and this can cause your symptoms
