Is there an easier way to fill the t-case with gear oil than this:

I hooked an 8" chunk of fuel line to the top of the gear oil bottle and the best I could to is get the bottle horizontal and squeeze it in. I think I was wearing more of it that I put into the Tcase.

By the way, I am not sure what tcase I have. 1956 and it has 2 sticks; an in and out, and high and low.

    Any tricks??

    Do a search. :D

We've talked about suction guns and pumps A LOT!

What do you mean? Google it, or can I do a search for the topic on this site?

Excuse my ignorance, but how does one do a site search?

See the forum menu at the top of this page?

    Click on search there.

Don't use the search box in the upper right, it searches the page but not the forum.

As Sparky said, we've talked about it before. Years ago, I bought a 1-gallon jug of gear oil at Pep Boys, it came wirh a pump on the cap and about 18" of clear hose, then a plastic nozzle.
Now I just buy a quart or two as needed and keep refilling the pump jug. The pump/hose makes it a no-mess proposition to fill a tcase.

Dennis, you should have a model 18 tcase.

    Cool, thanks Lynn. ;)

Just got back from the parts store (spend many-a-lunch hour there). I purchased a siphon style hand pump. Looks like it will do the trick. 8)

I try to read all posts daily, but I've only been around for a few weeks. I sure don't mean to be redundant, but it may happen and I hope you all forgive me for it.

It's been a while since it came up Dennis.

Heck, I can't keep up either. Looks like I'm always on but usually I just have the page open in the browser while I'm doing other stuff.

Hand pump would be my rec, I've a suction gun, messy!

I've gotten good lately at taking off the top cover and just pouring it in up to the drain plug then resealing it and putting the floorplate back. I seem to make much less of a mess that way. ;)

I've tried the suction gun too - might as well have just poured the gear oil on the ground..... Then there's trying to store it....

Nope - the pump is the way to go. I found a way to add on another 12" or so of hose to mine, enough that the gallon bottle can sit outside the frame rails while filling.

Yeah I go through the top as well. For me it takes 10 mins longer but a whole lot easier. I also get to poke around and see things from that angle when I wouldn't from underneath the jeep.
