    And for future reference,
Napa hose #7728 fits the lower radiator. Need to trim a little off each end but no kinks like the other hose that was installed

Keep forgetting to take a pic, but this is the one i have. I found one at work that is similar in size but slightly better quality. Not sure who made it

I used this OTC valve spring compressor. Doesn't flex like some of the newer ones i've handled.

Finally got it fired up yesterday. Wouldnt start so i pulled the rocker cover and checked the intake gap:oops:. Yea, that helped just a little...

Got it together enough i could drive it outside. I left a box of parts like generator, generator bolts at work so ill get working on that this week sometime. Add coolant and double check oil and i should be good to go this winter

I still have a broken stud on the cyl 4 exhaust manifold. I still need to put the gasket in and work on a hold down that will work for now

Welp. Went plowing yesterday and all of a sudden it started sputtering and bogged down then stalled. Thought gas so dumped 5 gallons in and it staryed but ran bad. Got it back in its parking spot and checked it quick with no tools. Cap and rotor look worn. Who knows how old. Ive never changed it. Distributor does rotate more than i think it should:confused: i also noticed alot of oil that got blown out of the dipstick fresh air makeup tube. I pulled plug wire 1 and it made no difference. I "think"? If i pull 4 same thing. 2 and 3 definatly misses when i pull them.

Ill grab my compression, leakdown, and spark tester tomorrow from work and get a better idea whats going on.

New cap, rotor, points, condenser for sure.
I did replace the plugs when i pulled the head

Spark testers. A not-so-soft requirement for every gear-head tool box.

Allright. A little followup. Ran into an issue where engine didnt want to turn over. Starter was groaning and barely turning motor over. Engine turned over by hand easy, and starter spun fine on bench. Fried the toyota starter so had to get another one.

Before the starter died, I was able to measure good compression on all 4. Roughly 100 psi if i remember right. Seemed to have spark on all but only runs on cyls 2 & 3. Got new points condenser cap and rotor.

Got the new starter yesterday and got it put on today. Engine turnes over now so back to trying to start it. Cold, dark, and 6 inches of cold stuff so only threw cap, wires, and rotor on. Runs, but only on cyls 2 and 3 still.

Oil was fairly fresh last summer. Maybe an hour of run time since then. The oil has a heavy fuel smell. I need to bring my fuel and vacuum gauge home tomorrow. Starting to wonder if the fuel pump went out on me.

Whatever happened, happened all at once. I thought it ran out of gas so dumped 5 gallons in. Maybe sucked up some junk in tank?

It's going to be almost 50 by sunday so ready to wait till then to mess with it more.

    Time for a new battery:rolleyes:
Didnt think i used it that much but only got a couple cranks out of it before it started slowing down again.

Got points, condenser, cap, rotor and plug wires installed. New battery cables too for good measure.
