patience, sometimes some people haven't had a chance to see your build or haven't had time to check but it does happen.

anyway, I just read your whole build. Your frame looks amazing, I got to see some pictures of what it looked like after it was galvanized.
I never knew about the company "Aqualu body", im looking forward to see progress. As I said this is first time I read your build and will be checking back.

 

Hey Frank, first time I've seen your thread, and I've got to say your frame looks awesome! It's definitely an ambitious project but it looks like you have it well in hand. I would also enjoy seeing how your frame looks after galvanizing!

As far as the offset of the dauntless, this is what the cj3b page says about swapping in a dauntless, "An offset of about 1" is possible without modifying the crossmember and this should give you enough room for the driveshaft to move freely." "The engine should be as far to the driver's side of the Jeep as possible. This gives the maximum amount of clearance between the front drive shaft and the bellhousing"

Don't let a lack of responses get you down, most people on here scan different threads and don't necessarily post something on every one. That doesn't mean that we don't enjoy reading about your progress or looking at the pictures! Most of my threads that I start only get sporadic responses, it's just the nature of the beast.

 

Thanks for the replies everyone. I figured I bored everyone to tears, and that was why I didn't get any responses lately. Sorry about the negative post (I don't know why I'm posting...) it's just been a rough few weeks around the homestead lately. I really appreciate the positive comments from you all.

I know how you feel. I don't get many responses back to me on my build thread. But I watch the view count go up so I figure others are looking. I've got no input on where to put the driveline. But I like the build. Keep it up.

I am seriously NOT bored with this thread Frank !. great job on the frame,alot of hard work a thought went into that . keep it up.

 

Regeared my rear offset 44 to 4.10s, going to do the full float swap, rounded up the parts at the local salvage yard. Narrowed a Dana 44 Scout front to early CJ width. Sandblasting and pics soon.

Just a quick update. Had to reshoot the underbody and frame/suspension ***'y. I had previously painted it with Napa PCC coatings Urethane, and it took a loooong time to dry, even with components mixed correctly. Thought it would be OK until we had a really humid day here a few weeks ago. Everything was dripping wet, and the paint blushed a little bit. Apparently it was too cold when I painted and the paint catalyst "kicked over" once the temp was up, and the humidity jazzed things up a bit. So, to correct it, as per Martin Senior, I got the garage to about 80 degrees, sanded all of it, and let it cure for 2 days like that with the paint coat open. It then got very hard once cured, so at that point I resprayed the frame and under the body with Majic Tractor and Implement paint. I was doing this just for the fact that Alkyld paints are really forgiving about cold and humidity and didn't really expect much of a nice paint job, just good coverage. That Majic outfoxed me though. It is possibly the shiniest paint job I've ever done, definitely the cheapest, and it's hard as a brick with the Catalyst in it. I was amazed that an el-cheapo paint like that could look as good as it does. I'm sure it would fade on the outside if I had used it (I will use Urethane on the outside of the body) but underneath on the frame and rears, I'm really happy with it.

 

New E-Brakes, hardware, and driveshafts installed today. Next up...Full float action.

Just bought a camera today! I get a lot of drive reading the builds on here. I hope at least a few of you are going to the Butler show. I'll be there (God willing).

 

Woohoo, can't wait to see pics! We're hoping to go to the show in June, but more than likely won't be taking the Jeep up there. It would be cool to see your project up close!

x2 i need motivation! i'll be out to butler with one or two of mine next year, wolnt be done this year. i need to get my dad to drive back to scranton to get the frame still, but i can drive and he can sleep now, i just got my permit!
