In order to not Hijack another thread about transfer case mounts decided to create a new thread.

what was jeeps intention for making the transfer case mount for the v6 jeep different from f-head combo? is it a way to counteract tension?
Should I even be concerned with not having the original style? I do have some drive train quirks that is causing me to think about this...

my jeep is 1966 tux with factory v6, but somethings where changed. A t-14 transmission with factory adapter where added at some point.

my cross member has several holes in it, I had a small round puck with metal attached to transfercase which at time didn't think anything about when getting walcks transfer case mount.

I assumed that because of previous owner adding a t-14 it was understandable that I had to enlarge a hole that was already oval shaped in cross member. However I did have to cut the rubber mount in half on top of that.

It's possible/probable that 1966 models (or some of them) had a new design that didn't work out too well. (Including the T86)

from this short thread and the one you chose not to hijack, I am beginning to believe the D18 torque mount is transmission dependent.
    great pictures on this link.

what transmission did you have before the T14?
my Oct69 built 1970 came stock with a T14 and the z-bracket square mount to the frame, with no feature for anything else.

I believe I had a t-86A but like I said one of the previous owner switched to a t14

I been watching other thread closely, however the crossmember thing is interesting, I don't have that round metal cylinder where the doughnut mount would go.

I might try changing the mount, to see what happens. Cause the doughnut style does not fit well.
