I know we've discussed this from time to time, but I saw this on a 3B for sale on ebay. From what I can tell looks like a pretty good way to do it.Wish we could see it in more detail

<edit>realized after I punched it in that this might oughta go in the fab section

Looks it, doesn't it. I wonder what they used for a crank pulley?

I have an F-Head (57 CJ5) with the advance adapters steering conversion. I went with a Lee Manufacturing "blue printed" :p manual 24 to 1 ratio steering box. Even with 31x10:50's it almost felt like power steering. I was extremely happy with the conversion. THEN ---- I went and put a lockright in the front axle. Oh my, I am now searching for a power steering set up.

I know there is a company that manufactures a remote reservoir system, can't remember the name, but it is expensive. The power box can be added fairly easy, the real issue for me is mounting the pump on the motor.

I am rambling, my QUESTION is, with out a proper crank pulley, will the belt hold up to the task, if it is not a serpentine set up?

I'm not sure what you mean, power steering was used for at least 35 years before the serpentine belt became the norm. The v-belt is perfectly acceptable to run power steering with, my Dauntless is running one with its stock pulleys and my pump came off of a 1982 Regal. So long as the alignment of the belt is good when the mount for the pump is made it should hold up just as good as the water pump or anything else!

Seems like more and more people are looking for pics like the ones I posted on this thread. Can the moderator move these pics to the sticky under fabrication?

    Thanks

jeepNdad does the lock right front make it that much harder to steer? Im going to put manual saggie on my :hurrican: powered 62 5 to save a few ponies but I have both pumps the power and manual. I didn't have much troble with the ross and 33s around here and didnt have any troble at tellico with 31s and the ross . If i decide to go with a lock right in my front axel do you think Im going to really need a power box?
