Can the starter off a F head bellhousing fit on a L head bellhousing? The reason I'm asking is because I have a rebuilt engine that I bought and I want to run it on a stand to make sure nothing is wrong with it. I know there are different fly wheels with 97 and 129 teeth. What is interchangeable between the two the engines?

What about the starter shim plate that goes between the fly wheel and block.

Interesting I have never seen nor heard of such a critter is it some sort of later F head thing? No 134L clear up into the early 60's used one and they used the same flywheel and bellhousing starter combo as the same year F heads. I know as I have a 1959 134L head in my Willys and it has the 129 tooth flywheel with the enclosed starter and the Late bell housing with the 3) 5/16" bolt flange

Possibly you mean the cover plate that keeps the muck & road kill out of the bellhousing?
