hand lap it and inspect where the seat is matching the valve. about a 1/8 inch lap middle way of the valve is ideal. if it is wide or close to the top of the valve it wont last long, some like a little wider lap than 1/8 inch to absorb heat, but the longer you run it the wider it will become, a narrow lap tends to seal better, in a nut shell if the seat isint in need of grinding a hand lap should be fine, may pay you to check out some tractor shops, they have the means to do it right in the jeep, may be able to remove the head and tow it to them and let them do it if it needs it, then tow back home and put it back together your self;)

Why did you change valves? Hand lapping works fine if you are putting the same valve back in the same location. Valves are pretty forgiving and probably will work with very little lapping. But if the reason one is being replaced is damage to the head of the valve, the seat may be bad.....

Would I BE ABLE TO REMOVE THE EXHAUST VALVES ON MY 134F WITHOUT REMOVING THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD?
