So on my 1964 CJ6 the seat brackets were pure hack when I bought it. A PO had modified them and braised some high back bucket seats out of something to them. Since originals are almost unobtainable, and the fact that I really don't want to destroy a part that someone else needs for a true restoration. I am planning on actually running low back forklift seats so I can adjust the backrest tilt. Needing to see what others have came up with for the passenger side to retain access to the tool box and the latches people have used to secure the passenger seat. I do have the original pivots for the passenger seat that I will incorporate into the new mount.

I heard they are the same as the windshield to hood latch??
My '66 does not have a latch either.

Originally there weren't any but at some time the windshield latch showed up. I believe that when the fold & tumble seat came along there was a flippy catch kinda thing added to the wheel box.

My 67 has a fold and tumble passenger seat with no latch. The hinges tend to separate when bouncing around off road. My 69 has the same type of seat, but with a latch. It is the same latch as found on top mount wiper windshields for holding the hood open. It works great at holding the seat in place.

How do they look? I'd like to see a photo. If we can get some information, this thread should be moved to restoration & research!

On my 1957 and other earlies, I have just fastened a hardware store barrel-bolt to the floor so that it engages the rear leg of the seat.

Here is a picture of the one on Matt's Jeep. You need a bracket attached to the seat frame for this to work.

Put into the build thread since I'm not necessarily looking to fully replicate stock. Some seem pouty about none OEM ideas on the restoration and research forum. But, we do seem to be getting some good information on the factory systems.

I have a set of '62 1/3-2/3 bench seats where the fold-and-tumble passenger side has the factory windshield catch. My '64 Tux with the same seats never had the latch feature. This seems to have been a short-lived feature.
I never had too much of a problem with the passenger seat bouncing around without the latch.
