So I decided to build front and rear bumpers Friday at work. The unfortunate thing is the wall thickness is only 1/8" on the tube but that is what we had on hand that day. I used a piece of 1/2" plate for the connectors and pull points. Those pieces go through the tube so when i use those as pull points it pulls on the frame and not just the bumper. There will be a piece of 1/4 plate on the other side to be a big washer when bolting to the frame. After it's bolted I will tack weld it to the frame 4 or 6 places each.
I'm wondering if I should run a gusset from the back side of the bumper to the frame for when the winch is being used as the only thing holding the tube to the pull points is the weld.
