I talked to a friend of mine that runs a fab shop, this was done for another board member. The bracket that holds the dual reservoir master cylinder is pretty specific and is pretty much unobtainable except thru Herms brake kit (pricey). If any of you are interested in this bracket for now or later use please let me know, the friend agreed to make them but only if I can get possibly 10 made at once he is shooting for about $35 a piece maybe less I don't know. I am making the CAD drawing for the plasma machine for nothing, just thought I would help any way I can. These brackets will be plasma cut on a CNC unit so they will be everybit as good as the original, probably better. The bracket is pictured below with the M/C still attached. I would appreciate feedback on this please, good or bad.

Will this fit a flatty frame? I am planning on mounting a dual M/C on my M38

I would be interested - but only if it fits the flatties as well. I ordered 2 from Herm and had to specify the model of jeep when I ordered.

I can pic and send measurements if needed to verify as I still have one on the shelf.

I've had similar bracket day dreams but I would like to go a step further and incorporate a mounting provision for a hydraulic clutch master. Design this and you can please nearly everyone while keeping stock ECJ5 pedals. If you don't need or want a hydraulic clutch, then the added provision will not be in the way of anything else. It still is there as an "expansion slot" :D

    And, yes, Flatties too!! 8)

Put me down as a for sure maybe! ;)

Jon, the '71 I had used a hydraulic setup. Far as I know it was a factory setup. I read somewhere that jeep used it only for 71 and discontinued it until later due to issues with it. It consisted of a single cyl m/c mounted outside the framerail and actuated with a pushrod just like a brake M/C.

I don't know Jon if the hydro clutch could be adapted to this mount.

Hippo the picture is of my original mounting bracket.

The '71 I just parted out seemed to be the standard ECJ5 setup. IIRC, it was a 1970 production date. That sounds intersting though!

Sounds like a good idea! A little anti-Herm, but a good idea. I drove a pickup with a single-chamber master cylinder for many years; hopefully I'm smarter now.

I'd may be interested in this kind o bracket for my '46 2a especially if it could include a provision for a hydraulic clutch m/c. I wonder if there would be an issue with a clutch m/c mounted outside the frame and my v-6 mufflers/exhaust pipes. I measured the inside width of my 2a frame rail at the m/c with a tape measure - 3 3/4" inside and about 4 3/16" outside. The inside depth is 1 11/16". Hopefully other members will verify these measurements.

    Thanks for the dimensions.

I'm not trying to be anti-Herm. This is something that came about thru another conversation and I thought I would ask the friend of mine. I will not make a dime off this and really will not be involoved other than suppling the drawing. I know that for me finding money for my Jeep project was always a great chore, so if you can spend $30-$40 and buy the bracket and get the M/C locally for about $25 its easier (or at least it was for me) to save and spend $40 rather figure out how to save $140. I'm like alot of other guys on here, I have a family and kids and they come 1st. It took me over 2 years to save the money and collect the parts to do what I started 6 months ago!
I'm sure there are alot of other guys on this board that are in the same boat!!;)

I am going to drop the drawing off to my friend early this morning and then its up to him, it may 4-5 days for hime to get me the 1st one to try on my frame.

I have looked and there is no way to put a provision for a hydraulic clutch on this setup and have it inside the frame rail. It would have to be mounted on the outside of the frame rail which is easy enough to fab up.
