Driver Side Gas filler cutout

    I did a gas tank relocation and no longer have the underseat tank. I want to cover the hole where the gas cap was. My sheet metal fab skills are pretty bad, was wondering if anyone has covered it with a bolt on plate or something that easily fits there.

    You could cut a piece of sheetmetal and make it the same shape...then take some fancy headed bolts and secure it...or I suppose you could Jb weld something in place

    There's nothing commercially available, that I know of, that will cover it. The panel for the filler neck fits into a D shaped hole in the side of the body, and is spot-welded into place. Look closely and you can see a dimple at each weld. If you drill or grind each spot weld, the filler panel will come out. Then you have to fill the hole. If I were going to do this with glue, I'd cut out a panel and use panel adhesive or something similar.

    If you have a welder, you weld in a patch to fill the hole. Lots of discussion of this on the net.
