Sorry for the funky pics. My camera lens is has sawdust inside it.

My theory behind mounting it to the pinion-end of the housing is that it will tilt the pinion up at full extension, giving the u-joints a little extra safety barrier.

If welding to the housing is no good, you could always weld tabs to a big muffler clamp and clamp it around there.

I honestly can't remember. I did this close to 20 years ago. I know I didn't disassemble, and it was probably stick welded. I would have preheated it some.

Driveshaft vibration could be worn spline in the slip joint, out of phase or most likely bad U joints. Even with the angle you have it should be relatively vibration free. Its most likely not the axle or components. The vibration can also come from the transfer case parking brake drum if yours has it.

I got a custom driveshaft from Tom Woods. It was expensive and worth it. Really nice driveshaft. Double cardan. I spoke to Tom on the phone at length and he's a real nice guy with great customer service. Their site is very helpful as well.

Removing the wedges from the spring perch, set the angles, almost parelle, and vibes stoped.
They barley bind at max drop.
A limit strap will be a temp fix until a can afford a Tom woods shaft.

While searching for some strap in junk, I ran across an old motorcycle chain?
I'm thinking this might be my limit strap?
Attach one end to pinion snout on pumpkin with muffler clamp, the other end
    To frame cross member.
    What do u think?

I wouldn’t use the chain. You want something with a little give. Same principle as using a recovery strap versus a chain. Then again unless you plan on recreating the Rat Patrol series it’s probably a non-issue.

I remember that show, wish it was on reruns now.
A little give, well it's a worn out chain, LOL
Problem with strap, I have no way of sewing the end, or teach me something?

I agree, the chain sounds violent.

Overlap the webbing and throw a bolt through it with some fender washers. It's not saving anyone's life, it just has to hold a chunk of steel in place. I'd think that would be plenty.

The seat belt assembly I used (Volkswagen maybe?) holds the webbing inside the spool with a clamp setup. All I had to do was disassemble it, shorten the webbing, then reclamp it.

I went for the most enjoyable short ride on hwy today, since I put this thing together,
    4 years ago, No Vibes!
I snugged all the shackle and hanger bolts, aired the tires to 32psi, (never had
That much in them before ),and off I went.
A little less body roll now and I can hardly feel the tread on the tires.
I had thought the tires were some of my vib problem.
    Thanks to all.
Since I've been hear, I've cured so many little bugs!

Made 2 eyebolts for strap out of gr8 bolt and cold shut.
One in pumpkin, one in frame cross member.
