The other day the 3B quit on me about 40 miles from the house. The distributor shaft was locked up and the oil pump worn out. New pump is in, on to the distributor.

I found a spare distributor in my parts bins. The model is IAD-4008A 11G. I knew it was good because it came from a good running engine when the engine was converted to electronic ignition.

Here's the weird part. The IAD cap and rotor fit except the latches don't line up when the cap is indexed properly. The latches are indexed to approximately the same angle on the opposite (clockwise) side of the notches on the cap. It had a cap on it (latched but not indexed) and has a 4-lobe point cam. Is the housing from a F-161 6 cylinder engine?

Scratching my head and digging for another distributor..... [IMG]
