I have several of these engines in similar shape that I actually paid for. I am breaking this one down for some parts to repair my broken one that used to run. These pics are for reference for me and others who may not have remembered to take a pic and maybe got confused like I have in the past. This engine is junk mostly. If someone can point out that a component is incorrectly installed or otherwise not correct, chime in so the problem is not replicated.

Good start to a potentially valuable thread for restorers. Maybe adding the stamped engine number/code, or it's decoded information, would help, so the little details that may have changed over the years could be pinpointed. I know that coil morning location can be different, and there were 2 different distributors used. Not sure if this is related to date of manufacture or not.

These heads have air injection ports. My buick heads do not.

I am not sure the worm is stock although there may have been a rare tequila version of this engine manufactured;)

The air ports are for the smog pump. A couple of my engines have them, tap and fill with pipe plug if not needed.

I noticed there was no camshaft bumper on this motor. I've torn down two of these motors, one had the cam bumper the other did not. were there different variations of these, or different yr models?

My 67 did not have one from the factory. I understand they stopped putting them on at some point

This engine did not have the timing cover/distributor housing when I bought it. It may or may not have had that. It did have the fuel pump eccentric.... My 1965 buick motor did not have one.

I have 2 more dauntless that are fully complete and 1 more buick engine. None are good. When I tear into them to do a real rebuild on them I will post pics. That will happen over the next several months maybe.

These "as found" pics are what I really needed several years back. I hope they help someone down the road.
