Dana 44s out of a Scout II

I Have a friend thats looking at buying a scout for the dana 44 one piece rear axle and the dana 44 front axle. Im pretty sure he is going to have to move the spring perches but is there any other issues that might come up. Our biggest concern is the axel width compared to the jeep's , anyone ever try it ?

 

I have a friend who has a set under his 77 cj5. The front axles have no castor at all. You will need to cut the knuckles off and rotate them to build castor into the axle. He chose to outboard his springs instead of moving the perches. His jeep has been this way for about 3 years now, it rides great.

 

What McRuff said. If you want to use the front you will have to outboard the springs, no choice as the passenger side pad is part of the pumpkin. The steering arms are also way too long on the knuckles and will present steering issues also. Will need a very long pitman arm or change out the knuckles or do some fancy machine work to make them work. The rear is just a matter of moving the spring pads. Nickmil
