I am in the process of rebuilding my rear Dana 44 tapered axle diff and I has bought (or so I thought) all the seals. As I was ready to install the inner seals on the tubes, I realized they were not the right ones, they were too thick. Does anyone have the right part numbers for the tube seals? I need the ones in the pumpkin area, but if you have the number for the ones on the other end I will appreciate it. At this point I do not trust the ones I already have.

No seals for the "pumpkin" area.
Only seals out at the wheel end.
Inner inside the axle housing, outer on the outside of the back plate which seals against the rear wheel hub.
    That's it as I recall.

Ok, so I bought based on some reading on the forum, seals 481837 and 9912S. I believe the reference was from a 71 CJ5 Dana 44. Maybe this axle is different from the one I have (62 CJ5 off-set Dana 44) and requires different seals? Do you have part numbers for the seals you used? Thanks!

The 71 CJ5 you referred to should be flanged axle.
Flanged axles (one piece) use different seals than tapered axles (two piece).
Only numbers I can provide are Jeep part numbers.
I'm sure tapered axle seal numbers are floating around the forum somewhere.

Thanks a lot! As long as I know those seals are not the right ones I'm fine. I could have gone crazy trying to fit them in! I guess I will be posting some for sale soon! :D
