I am installind a dana 20 in a flatfender. The dana 20 has a bracket on the passenger side by the shift rails.
It has 2 threaded holes, what is this bracket for? Do I need it? Also, I have looked at pictures of dana 20 cases,
some do not have this bracket. I know others have used the dana 20, did you use this bracket or not?
    Thanks...

That mounts to the crossmember. When i used my original crossmember with a dana 20, i made an angle bracket that bolted to that palce and then bolted to the round spot on the crossmember that the original Dana 18 had the round mount.

In some applications Dan is absolutely correct. There is a mount that comes off of that but is generally not bolted to the crossmember, usually kind of a snubber. Again, this depends on application. Some applications use those holes for an exhaust mount. Some Scout 2's use it for that. My stock '76 Terra used those holes for that.
