Possible to use mismatched gear angles? There are many different gears for these units that might appear to fit together but not mesh properly. Novak has a table of gear numbers that are used with the various Dana transfer cases: The Novak Guide to Dana 18 & 20 Gears Interchange 1941-1979

I'm not aware of any different tooth angles on TC internal gears. Yes, there are a bunch of different gears over the years, and the D18 and D20 have their own sets. The only tooth angle differences I know of is in overdrive units depending on manufacurer. I think Husky OD units have a unique tooth angle from other brands.

Dana 20 used two different angles. 17 something degrees and 20 something degrees. Two different gear sets to accommodate. One set used 18-5-10 intermediate gear and I believe the other intermediate was 18-5-16. The input gears do NOT interchange. I learned this the hard way 25 years ago on a Scout 2. You must have the gearsets that match each other.
