You got me wondering so I just checked. That is a flange cap and the differential case. There is a clutch gear between them.

More progress. Spindles on and torqued to 25 ft. #. Both hubs mounted and one Warn hub installed. Still waiting for some ARB parts for final installation and of course the time to do it.

New "wheel" u joints. I had to cut off the old ones, very dry inside.

ARB waiting for some fittings and air line.

Pass side just needs brakes installed. Warn hubs turn very freely and engage nicely.

Yes. Just trying to get something done before I post up. If I had a real garage to work in it would already be done.

The new HD tie rod ends do not fit into the OK4WD inserts I picked up. I am going to look at the Goferit inserts. Now I am confused on which ones to use, standard D30 or the 1 ton offering. I spoke with Goferit and he suggested the standard item. I hate to buy the wrong part at $15 ea. He did tell me the top of the insert ID is near 5/8". I am going to see what the OD is of the TRE.

I got a little side tracked, my wife wanted me to install a closet organizer. Fortunately she is very happy with it.
Only 1 recent pic of the calipers and pads installed. I also need to find out if I can use the Chevy brake lines that I am using on my current setup. Still waiting for some small ARB parts and the time to do the swap.

New "Goferit" inserts drilled and installed. These are the correct size. You have to drill out to 3/4 inch and tack weld the tops.

    New beefier tie rod.

Make sure you tighten the nuts they give you ,they do loosen Or ....switch to castles ...with cotter pins .....and make sure the inserts do not stick down lower than flush ...

Good info on the nuts they supply coming loose. I did use blue locktite but will remember to check them. I ground the underside flush with the knuckle, they stuck down about 1/16" or so.

Do you have a hole on the tread part of the tie rod end?

If yes like cj6/442 said i would switch to castle nut with cotter pins. It would be way lot safer that way. M2C

Yes they do. I have some castle nuts and cotter keys. I'll see how these work.
    From the Goferit instructions:
"Includes special spiral lock flanged nut that must be used."

Good to know. I would rather fix it now than have it come loose on a trail somewhere!

So, you drill a hole through the TRE for the cotter pin?

Correct, my TRE's have a hole for a cotter pin. If I get some time tonight I'll take the nut supplied by goferit off and try a castle nut and pin.
