20 years ago when I had just gotten out of high school, I got an all original '48 cj2 from an uncle. It had a column shift t90. Of course I promptly swapped in a 225 and t14.

What model was the column shift version and obviously they were rare.

From reading around, I keep seeing references to "early" CJ2A's all being column shift - could it have been a '46?

not sure, but the uncle always said it was a 48 and he bought it new....doesn't mean it wasn't a 46 sold new in 48.

The column shift 2A's were all 1945 or 1946.

The 46 column shift ended with vin 38022 then went to a floor shift.

Usually on civvie models the column shift was a T-90. Used a different case with side linkage. There were some side shift T-84's but not sure if used in Jeep's except for prototypes. Could have been used on the early Civvie models as they were using up stocks from the military models. Nickmil.

I think they built column shift models for export too. I dont know what years.
There is a column shift 2A behind a guys barn a few miles from my house. He wont sell it and will probably never do anything with it.

    :D

A guy at the end of my road has a Military Jeep also, I think MB, but he won't part with it. "How am I gonna plow my driveway?". I said, "they make snow blowers now". That's the only time it runs, when it snows.
