ok i am looking at doing a few upgrades first will be disc brakes i am in need of a good write up for a 65 i have read a lot of them and i am confused on all the differnt part numbers do i use d30 parts or what will work the best

next question i got given to me a set of 33" new style mtr's not really the tires i wanted but they are 90% tread and free so how much lift can i get away with i m thinking a 2.5" bds suspension with a 1/2 to 3/4 shackle lift and some good shocks or do i need the 4" lift like i did on my yj to run the 33's i am trying to avoid being super tall

I've had my '62 for 24 years & daily drove it, off & on, for years. 'Still would be if my toddler didn't need a ride to daycare!

yeah, it's not a luxury ride, but that's what I love about it. It is a time machine back to a way of life forgotten by most folks.

GET AN OVERDRIVE!!! That is hands-down the best money spent, if you plan to drive it anywhere. It transforms something suited only for a parade into something that can atleast keep up to modern slow-lane driving. Again-- an overdrive is a PRICELESS addition to any early CJ that is driven.

    Petronix, for sure.

Use whatever carb you like (I'll buy that Solex if you are not gonna use it. Seriously!)

Keep the tires as close to stock as you can.

Wear gloves & a hat in cold weather.

    Wear earplugs.

Drop the windshield & wear glasses whenever possible! There is no better feeling in the world....

Yes, we are talking F-head performance here! Nothing is worse than an engine that barely runs & has no power. Mine is tuned as well as I can get it. It pulls 60MPH up most any interstate hill and is a blast to bang through the gears around town. Not to mention it gets great gas mileage (better than the Rubicon!).
