I tried calling AFI at 4:45 central didn't catch anyone and left name and number. Not a good ohmen if I need help after sale.

I did print off the webpage with what I felt was needed for my motor (new distributor - I want a small cap for clearance anyway) came to about $850 and I ran that past the financial department.:madwife:

We just made a big lump payoff on her student loan.

But it's approved in the October budget :bananatool:

I don't know anything about them or their business..... just going off the website. I think that Steve will probably buy a TBI kit for his EF231 from them.

Well this is going to get old. I missed the return call at 2:20 today. I called back at 3:45.
It just goes to a voicemail that says they will call back.

I'm sorry but if I am looking at a $850 product you better call back before the next company does.

I've only heard good there aswell. $1400 I could buy all my parts and break a few things learning.

"- Many miles of low maintenance fuel injection operation"

I'm curious who wrote the list of what's included first?:ninja:

Sounds like AFI might be a side job for someone. Have you tried emailing them? Not sticking up for anyone here...... but I do admire people who work a day job and have a side gig.....
I'm really curious because Steve is giving their system serious thought. He can justify $745 for his when he factors in the time it would take to source parts and build wiring.

Bill Hamilton is well known on the IHC forums. As I understand, his MO is to send you his best guess about what the system tune should be. Then you drive around and collect a log file of operation. Send it back to him, he evaluates the log, burns a new chip and sends it to you. Repeat until you're happy that it's dialed in. He typically supplies spark control, but with a 225 he might not. This should be a less money - you could ask.

I looked at his website. I thought it was interesting that he mentions FI for the L and F134 engines. I seem to remember several posts on here about fuel injecting the 134 and not many if any options.

The Sniper should work fine, so sayeth Holley. I'm mostly only interested in that setup for exploring the capability of the FHead. It can shed some light on what limitations are imposed by the Carter.

I've been reading everything I can off of the AFI site. This section from the tbi wiring harness might be an issue to work around.
I beleave I have a 12si but it definitely takes a blip of the throttle for the amp light to go away. Mine is a 3 wire with it jumped off the plug to the main post on the alternator.

IMPORTANT NOTE : Older style single wire D elco alternators do not work well with fuel injection systems. We do not recommend or provide support for vehicles equipped with single wire alternators such as described above. Many people like to use single wire GM Delco alternators. These alternators need to see elevated engine RPMs before they begin to charge. If you are using this type of single wire alternator, beware that you may not have the proper voltage provided to your system on initial startup. Simply blipping the throttle will bring you u p to proper voltage. We do not recommend these types of single wire alternators for fuel injection applications.

Caught a call back from A.F.I.
They need my cam specs from above and I'll gather everything about my engine and send an email. It was mentioned that they might be able to have 2 ac compressor high idle triggers one at say 100rpm and one at 200 both on would add 300. I think I will take them up on that.

I have a 12ci York and the snow plow pump. Plus a lot of electrical load.Basically get 100, 200,or 300rpm higher idle. I'm going to tie this into the hand throttle control on the dash.

Question now is if you had to pick what rpm do you most commonly use the hand throttle given the warm up cycle is now controlled by the engine temp sensor?
    750 idle
    850 ac 1
    950 ac 2
    1050 ac 1+2
I think that will work, I doubt the IAC can flow much air for a lot of load.

I have an Affordable Fuel Injection system on the engine in my project Jeep and couldn't be happier. The system is easy to install and get running. The only snafu I had was not using the pump they supplied. I called and talked to Norm and he diagnosed the problem pretty quickly. I haven't driven it yet, but it should do just fine.
