A few questions bout centerforce clutches and there customer service hasnt helped me much.

    I can get the Centerforce I pressure plate for a 225 V6,
but not the Centerforce II plate.

But for the 231 V6 I can get the Centerforce II pressure plate.

My question is is the 231 flywheel the same bolt patternas the 225 flywheel?? I have the 225 heavy flywheel on my 4.1L V6 so i am thinking i can use the 231 on it. Does this sound right?? Does anyone know if the 225/231 have the samew pressure plate bolt pattern??

Also with the centerforce clutch can I use a OEM throwout bearing or do I have to order the centerforce throwout bearing? Is there really a differnce??

    Thanks!!!

I hope this doesn't hijack the thread, did you balance you flywheel to your engine? I talked to people who have and others haven't and it worked, just wondering. Sorry if I hijacked the thread.

I had the flywheel balanced. I got the info from Parts Mike. You get the flexplate from the even fire motor and you can balance the 225 flywheel to it.

I mounted the flywheel from 225 right up to 231. No problems. Bolt pattern is the same. I used centerforce throw out so I will not be much help with that part. AM

I had a problem with the Centerforce disc. I couldn't get it to release. It wasn't the pressure plate, it was definitely the disc. I wound up using a stock disc from Napa. I never did figure out exactly what the problem was. I believe it may have been a difference in the offset of the center of the disc.

Dan, there's not much advantage to going to the expense of the Centerforce II, except at high RPMs. Unless you're doing alot of near-red line stuff, you'll do just as well with the Centerforce I.

Dan go back to the Centerforce page and do a search again.
Input CF360056 instead of CF 360056 (elimate the space between the F and the 3
It comes up for me in the search every time that way.

I was just curious why you want a Centerforce over, say, a LUK Gold Kit.

Thanks Lynn, I just went with the 225 pressure plate, since i wasnt going to go with the Centerforce II pressure plate. I am also going by the write up by Rich Mott on the hard clutch cure, i got the longer Pivot for the fork and the slightly longer throwout bearing to get everything to work a touch better, i will see how that goes, i always seemed to have a bit of a problem with my clutch maybe the combination of everything will give me a bullet proof setup.

I just chose the Centerforce because i have read more bout them, i never really see much about Luk. And i am mixing and matching pieces so the centerforce was easier for me to get :)

    Thanks All!!!
