When you try to idle it down does it run real rich? Black smoke come out of the exhaust?

The carburetor base gasket is a common source of vacuum leaks.
Look at the pictures in post #5 of this thread.

I've got to believe it was a transient problem. If you reset to standard, does it still hesitate? Pull the choke housing off and check the Metering Rod. The tension spring should be hooked into the rod and the nut holding the metering rod pin should be tight.

I took the top off and checked the rod. Looked right. I think I’m going to remove the carb and clean it and see if that does anything.

How is/was the fuel level in the carb when you took the top off?

Normal for it sitting for a day or two. I checked the float level and it was correct

    Well I’ll be a monkey’s uncle.

I took the yf completely apart. Stripped and cleaned everything.

Sure enough it’s running right now. 20 inHg

Thanks for the help folks. Funny even with 3 fuel filters before the carb, junk can still get in there

Did you actually find anything that appeared to cause the problem? Some particles of dirt or something?

Funny thing, I don't know how many years it's been since I heard someone say "Well I'll be a monkey's uncle". :)

Haha. I felt like a monkey with a wrench in its hands banging around this thing for the last week.

I saw nothing at all :/

If it reappears check for water in the fuel. With 3 filters I can't imagine dirt got through, especially since you did not observe any.
I'm assuming the fuel line from the closest to carb filter has been replaced with new?
