Carb. is still backfiring! not as bad. I found a vacum leak in the choke housing. this is a pick after i capped them off.

It still backfires. not as bad. no if i open it wide open it bogs down the backfires. i played with the timing a ton like someone recomended in my last post. it helped! here is where i have the vacum advance hooked up at.

is this a good spot? i have not been able to go down the road due to the broken rocker arm issue. i dont really trust it like that!

    Wow Dude!

Your carb is seriously hooked up wrong.

That capped off port on the choke os where a metal line went to the exhaust manifold that is now gone and replaced with the header. That metal line supplies the choke with hot air that makes it open. You need that to work correctly.

The port you capped off in that same pic is the vacuum supply for the EGR system that went away with the header install. Leave that capped.

The second pic looks to show the distributor vacuum hose hooked to the Carb bowl vent. The vacuum advance needs to be unhooked from that vent and plugged onto the lowest pipe on the carb base that points roughly in the direction of the distributor. It looks to be the one in the pic at the 11 o'clock position with the cap on it.

    Try that.

hmmm.....thats how the PO had it and he "SWEARS IT WORKS RIGHT" but that aint the case. I aint worked with jeeps before, im a chevy guy, so i assumed that was where it was supose to be. I'll try the advance for the Dis. down there and see if that helps.

As it is now is the best it has run. i've been playing with it for sometime and its getting better and better.

    Thanks for the help.
