O.K. - I love the original curved chrome bumpers. Mine are dented, twisted, pitted and now (thanks to someone backing into it ) my front bumper is cracked at the bumper bolt and about to fall off.

What other bumpers fit on a '71 C101? I would settle for stainless and straight but want to make sure they'll fit...

Give me a day or so I might be able to hook you up.

I bought that commando in Hanover. It comes with a crap load of extra parts ( a full second cut at weld joints body). I may have a bumper for you.

I'm picking the jeep up Sat morning

Nice rig, grouperboy. I wish I could find nice curved bumpers like the originals. Chrome would be even beter. If you know of any squared bumpers that fit, let me know... they will work for the time being. An original front bumper (curved and perfect chrome) just sold on ebay for like $275. I could not get that amount of cash in time. It was bought from the Jeepster Man years ago. I called them and they said that all of their remaining bumpers needed to be re-chromed very badly.

AFAIK the chrome bumpers that were used on the Jeepster, on the Tuxedo Park CJs, and that were optional on the intermediate CJs were all the same. They are out there if you search for them. Driving off the pavement may get a little nerve-wracking if you find some nice bumpers though... factory bumpers get bent and banged up on the trail very easily.

This is a reply to timgr's reply in #11 above.
I know this is an old post, but the Commando bumper is not the same as the Tuxedo Park bumper. The Tux uses a single bolt on each side on the front face only. The Commando bumper has three bolts per side, the same face bolt, plus one on top and one on the bottom.
I think you can interchange them, and some CJ frames have the extra top and bottom holes, same as the Commando.
By the way, anyone have a chrome curved bumper in decent shape (either version) that they want to part with?

    Donny,

Any wants are best off being posted in the want to buy section (WTB).

    More exposure there.

Okay, quit playing around with that thin stock stuff. Go to a shop that has a press brake, have them shear a piece of 1/4 steel or stainless and have them bend it in the press brake to fit the front frame of your 71 jeepster, they should be the same as early CJ5's and CJ3b/A's. I have had several made over the years, looks stock and are a lot thicker. The current one I have on my 3A is 1/4 inch thick and cut and bent to look like a stock bumper. If you what have it chromed!!!
