I recently returned my windshield frame back to factory black. I moved it outside to cure in the sun/wind for the day and the wind blew it down and broke the glass.

I have a local glass shop, but I don't believe that I will be able to get a template out of my glass.
I also will need a new rubber seal as mine is cracked and leaking as is.
Has anyone purchased glass from Jeepglass.com?
They list a new windshield and rubber surround for $125.
    What have you guys done?

I've used local shops for my glass, but I did have old stuff for templates. That doesn't sound like too bad a price for the glass and rubber. How about shipping?

I just took the whole frame into the glass place- they cut the glass to fit & installed it.

Shipping with jeepglass.com is like $40.
I was quoted $300 locally by an auto glass shop.
Howard, Did you supply the rubber seal or did the glass shop?

Its my fault - I am sorry. I saw your other thread and thought to myself - I would have removed the glass. Then I thought - yes - and I would have broken the glass. Then I thought - he is smarter than I for not removing the glass. Somehow I must have jinxed you - I am sorry - thought this stuff only happened to me.

Oh no mike it wasn't you, is was my buddy Steve who's 71 cj5 project I have been working on and updating the thread here.
Steve- "What do you mean your not going to take the glass out and sand blast the whole thing."
Me- "Because I'm not trying start a big project, and I'll probably end up breaking the glass if I mess with it."
Steve- "I know how you are, this will snowball and you will not be happy unless you sandblast it and start from scratch."
Me- " I'm very good at masking and it will come out fine. Besides, I want to use the jeep to cut a Christmas Tree next weekend."
Steve- "Iv'e heard that before. I'll bet you a 6 pack that you end up taking the glass out, sandblasting and reassembling with a new seal."
Me- " Ill take that bet."

Text message to Steve this morning
    Me- ")(*&^%^%$&^%*&*%%*&^(*&^"
    Steve- "What happened?"
Me- "Wind blew my windshield frame over and broke the glass."
    Steve- "I'll take Sam Adams"

I attempted to remove the rubber seal around the windshield but it just crumbled. I carefully cut it out and it looks like I do indeed have a very dangerous template for the glass shop! I will cover the glass in clear packaging tape to keep it together and take it to the glass shop down the street.

So now I am on the hunt for a rubber seal. Are all created equal when it comes to the 69-71? is there a brand to stay away from?

Seal is about 30. Any glass shop should have it by the roll.

I bought the glass on ebay for $100 shipped. It wasn't too hard to install myself. I was able to reuse the old seal fortunately.

I paid $135 at a local glass shop in lakeport. It wasn't an automotive glass shop but a general glass shop. I think they used a tempered glass? It's been a while.

I bought the seal from walcks, and they didn't have template for the install. They also put in the glass for me.

I hope not, for your sake. First rock chip will give you a face full of shattered glass.

I have a windshield that I took out of my 64 I can trace and make a template if you want me to. I had a grey windshield made for my Jeep, it was OK with the top on, but couldn't see thru it with the top off. I had a new light green one cut this summer, it's a lot better for my 71 year old eyes.

I dropped my broken windshield off at my local glass shop. They estimated $100 for green tint automotive glass. They did not have the rubber seal on hand so I will be sourcing that elsewhere.
